A Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian city of Voronezh has killed one person and injured three others, according to regional authorities. The strike, which occurred overnight, also caused widespread damage to residential buildings and local infrastructure.

Voronezh Governor Alexander Gusev announced that a young woman died in intensive care after debris from a downed drone struck a house. He described the incident as “one of the heaviest drone attacks” the city has faced since the start of Russia’s full‑scale invasion of Ukraine nearly four years ago.

🛑 Damage and Casualties
Local officials reported:

One fatality — a woman who succumbed to her injuries in hospital
Three additional people wounded
More than 10 apartment blocks and private homes damaged
A high school affected

Russian air defenses intercepted 17 drones over the city, which has a population of more than one million.

🎯 Ukraine Silent, but Strategy Clear
Ukraine did not immediately comment on the strike. Kyiv typically avoids confirming attacks inside Russia but maintains that such operations are intended to:

Disrupt Moscow’s military logistics
Respond to ongoing Russian missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian cities
Target infrastructure used to support the Kremlin’s war effort

🚀 Russian Missile Strike Near Poland Raises Tensions
The Voronezh attack came shortly after Russia launched a hypersonic Oreshnik missile at a site in western Ukraine near the Polish border. European governments condemned the strike, calling it an attempt to intimidate NATO members and discourage continued support for Kyiv.

The missile launch followed reports of progress in negotiations between Ukraine and its allies on future security guarantees should a US‑led peace framework take shape.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his government remains in close contact with Washington, noting that chief negotiator Rustem Umerov held discussions with US officials on Saturday.
