The S.O.S. Romania Party, through its President, MEP and Attorney Diana Iovanovici‑Șoșoacă, calls on the United States of America to stop the military escalation and choose the path of peace
In light of the military operations launched by the United States of America against Venezuela, and considering the positions already expressed by sovereign states around the world that have firmly condemned this act of armed aggression, we fully distance ourselves from any policy of invading, occupying, or subjugating a sovereign state, as well as from any action that violates national independence and sovereignty—principles that S.O.S. Romania has consistently defended.
We regret that, in this context, the United States of America appears to have departed from its commitment to peace, respect for independent states, and non‑intervention in the internal affairs of other nations.
We hope that the United States will return to a foreign policy grounded in dialogue, cooperation, and respect for the sovereignty of all states, regardless of economic or strategic interests related to resources.
We reaffirm a fundamental principle: the sovereignty of states is non‑negotiable and cannot be annulled through military force. No state, regardless of its power, has the right to impose regime change or capture political leaders through armed operations. Such precedents endanger global stability and pave the way for a world governed by force rather than by law.
We consider that we are witnessing a serious violation of a state’s sovereignty, of the basic principles of international law, and of the UN Charter. Latin America has been declared a “zone of peace,” and this status must be respected. Venezuela has the right to determine its own future without external interference.
Under these circumstances, S.O.S. Romania issues a public and official appeal to the American administration to immediately halt the escalation of the conflict and return to respecting the principles of international law and global peace. Furthermore, S.O.S. Romania calls on the Donald Trump administration to immediately release Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife and repatriate them to Venezuela, the state they legitimately represent.
We believe that no power has the right to assume the role of “international policeman” or to intervene militarily or coercively in the internal affairs of other states. We call on the United States to end such practices, to choose the path of peace and diplomacy, and to unconditionally respect the sovereignty and independence of all states, regardless of the political, military, or economic interests at stake.
The United States must not allow itself to be drawn into a spiral of violence by global forces and interest groups that are clearly attempting to trigger a Third World War. Such a conflict would devastate humanity and would primarily harm American citizens, whom the U.S. leadership has a moral and constitutional duty to protect.
The Washington administration must prioritize the will and interests of the American people, not the desires of those who profit from destabilizing and inflaming the world. The direction of the future can no longer be dictated unilaterally. The geopolitical reality clearly shows that the world is moving toward a new global architecture, and the BRICS states are becoming a pole of stability and alternative economic cooperation that cannot be ignored.
S.O.S. Romania, consistent with the positions it has expressed over the past years, calls on the United States of America to support peace, diplomacy, multipolarity, and the sovereign right of every state to determine its own destiny.
In this context, we publicly reaffirm that Romania must have the courage to adopt a sovereign, independent, and non‑submissive position. National interest requires balance, dialogue, and openness toward all major centers of power, without turning ourselves into a sacrificial pawn on someone else’s chessboard.
We firmly condemn any act of military aggression that endangers global peace and call on the international community to act responsibly, in the spirit of cooperation and respect for international law.
History has shown us far too many tragedies born of geopolitical ambitions. Humanity no longer has the moral right to repeat such errors.
Therefore, we support the appeals of Venezuelan authorities and the leaders of several Latin American states for the urgent convening of the UN Security Council to assess this situation and prevent further destabilization of the region and the world.
S.O.S. Romania also calls on the peoples of the world to remain vigilant and not accept manipulation or war‑driven propaganda. Political leaders have the obligation to serve the people, not the interests of global structures that thrive on conflict.
S.O.S. Romania clearly states: peace, sovereignty, and respect for international law must prevail over any form of military pressure. Any deviation from these principles brings us closer to global instability and a major conflict.
MEP Diana Iovanovici‑Șoșoacă
President of S.O.S. Romania
